Julie Gates' Bio
Julie Gates is originally from Nashville, TN. She holds undergraduate degree from Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, TN and a Master's Degree from Loma Linda University in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. Mrs. Gates also studied in France.
As a Speech Therapist, Mrs. Gates has focused her carreer on the adult population, working primarily in the area of rehabilitation. While Mrs. Gates admittedly has no formal certification for teaching Etiquette, she uses the principles daily as she helps adults to re-learn verbal and non-verbal communication skills as they attempt to return to their pre-injury cababilities.
Mrs. Gates has a special interest in International Etiquette, which she describes as teaching the children to read, understand and most importantly appreciate social customs contained in cultures other than typical American social situations. Mrs. Gates states, "Etiquette is so much more than table manners, although we do learn about these. It is my hope that the students at SACS will be able to function comfortably in any social situation-both with food and without. Etiquette to me is reading a social situation accurately so that you not only fit in, you get invited back."
Mrs. Gates and her husband, Don have two children who attend SACS. She is an avid traveller.
